On a difficult blustery day the ladies played two rounds in their Championship competition. Barbara Knaggs the defending champion came out on top once again with the best gross score of l76. Sheila Smith won the best net over the two rounds. Jean Jefferson collected the best gross prize in the morning and Doreen Richardson in the afternoon. Best net in the morning was Barbara Mahan and Sheena Hamilton in the afternoon. Other competitions held in August were the Pyman Cup the winner being Amanda Ing with a good score of 67 net. Sue Wessel runner up 69 net and 3rd Janet Wightman 73 net. The August medal was also won by Amanda Ing with another good score of 67 net, runner-up Janet Wightman 71 net and Sandra Bastian 73 net. Captain Sheena Hamilton finished 3 up in the Par competition, 2nd Sue Wessel; 2 up and Wendy Hurworth finished all square. A very good day was had when the ladies went on their reciprocal outing to Bishop Auckland. Maureen Eglon won the Mamie Collier trophy with 38 pts. 2nd Sue Wessel 37 pts and 3rd Doreen Richardson over the back nine with 33 pts. Sue Dryden and Wendy Hurworth were also awarded prizes for being nearest the pin on two nominated holes. |
